Talk: CHINA REDISCOVERED
Did you know that the Ancient Chinese pottery discovered by archaeologists in 1911 in Greece influenced ceramic design in the 20/21st century?

George Manginis’s beautifully illustrated talk on his book about the ancient Chinese pottery in the Benaki Museum and the part played by Greek-origin British business man George Eumorfopoulos who inspired modern artists and studio pottery.

George Manginis studied archaeology at the University of Athens. He’s taught Byzantine, Islamic and Chinese Art History at the University of Edinburgh, SOAS, and the New College of The Humanities in London. He was a 2013 Stanley J. Seeger Fellow at Princeton University. His writing includes Mount Sinai: A History of Travellers and Pilgrims.
